Scholarship Applications Available to Graduating Seniors
Each year the Shelby Community Foundation offers college scholarships to high school seniors who live in Shelby Township. In 2011, the Foundation gave 11 scholarships totaling $11,000. Criteria used for evaluation are: currently a high school senior and a resident of Shelby Township (may attend a high school outside of Shelby Township as long as residency is in the Township), financial need, community involvement, academic success, extra-curricular activities, two references, and a short personal essay.
The scholarships are available for all higher education beyond high school including community colleges and trade schools. Call the Shelby Community Foundation at 586-909-5305 with questions. Scholarship forms for 2012 are available below. The deadline for submitting an application is April 1, 2012.
Founded in 1996, the Shelby Community Foundation (SCF) is a tax-exempt non-profit community corporation created by and for the people of Shelby Township. The SCF channels donations from local businesses and individuals to the specific needs of the community.
